yam and sweet potato

ytd while sheena and i were q-ing for our food for lunch (seems like funny stuffs always happen when im q-ing for my food), we overheard this conversation b/w this 2 ladies

lady 1: eh wad is this? *points at something which we cannot see*
lady 2: tang shi (spoon in chinese)
sheena and i: *looks at each other and LOL*

i mean, who on earth dont know howe a spoon looks like?

until our turn to order, we realised tt lady 2 was actually trying to say "han zhi" (sweet potato in hokkien)

if ure not laughing nw, nvm, there's a 2nd part to it :)

it took place during lunch time too, with 4 characters: sherol sis, junming, sheena and i

was telling junming and my sis about the sweet potato joke and they were laughing quite badly.
(at this pt of time, jm didnt knw tt han zhi is actually sweet potato. all along he thought it is just a word to rebuke people when they go "orh...."

u knw, orh hanzhi?

den sherol sis tried to explain tt "orh" actually refers to yam and "hanzhi" refers to potato. its like a conversation b/w these two. and jm actually replied,

"oh, really? now i knw." - which means he has been suan-ing others w/o knwing the meaning.

well to u who're reading, if u didnt knw as well, nw u knw.

den my sis dragged tapioca in. (which both jm and i didnt knw hw it looks like)

den trying to be smart, i replied, "oh, gt skin tt one arh?"

sherol sis: yes.. (started to laugh aft some time)

and jm replied: all haf skin wad!

haahaa, tt was pretty silly of me :)

den sheena and my sis trying real hard to explain what a tapioca is to the both of us, and we went..

"orh......." and wad's next?

"hanzhi!"
